100 Years of History in the Southwest in cooperation with the Arizona Historical Society Executive Summary
No generation lives for itself alone,
February 14, 1912 Agave Productions, Inc., in cooperation with the Arizona Historical Society is planning to produce a series of Arizona History documentaries that will be broadcast as a series, leading up to Arizona's Centennial statehood celebration in 2012. Plans are being made to produce and broadcast six new 30-minute Copperstate Centennial programs each year. By 2012 the Copperstate Centennial series of documentaries will include more than 40 programs the can be broadcast weekly to celebrate Arizona Statehood throughout the year. Agave Productions, Inc. is working with a diverse committee of historians, educators and community leaders to produce the Copperstate Centennial programs. Some of the topics that we are hoping to feature are: astronomy, broadcasting, geology, railroads, architecture, water, farming, ranching, etc. This documentary series will be produced in cooperation with the Arizona Historical Society (AHS). Additional local history groups and museums will also be involved in the production process. All of the oral histories and other video recorded during production will be archived with AHS. Agave is working with local PBS stations to broadcast these documentaries statewide. Agave will be working with teachers and educators to make these video histories useful for teaching Arizona History for many years to come. Agave Productions is launching a major fundraising campaign for the Copperstate Centennial project. Each 30-minute documentary (with Teacher's Guide and DVD mastering) will cost more than $60,000 to produce. Agave is seeking to raise $400,000 per year in underwriting and donations to make this project a reality. Click here to donate. |
